Do you want to get in shape, but don’t want to go to the gym or work out at home? Do you want to practice your vocal skills, but don’t have time or place to do it? What If I told you that there was a way you could use one of your favorite activities to get fit and train your voice? If you’re anything like me, you’re probably always on the move and don’t have a lot of time to work out or practice. At the same time, we all need to unwind after a busy week of work or school.

In this article, I want to tell you about the absolute coolest way to get in shape AND train your voice. And NO, I’m not talking about my VOXXBODY® program, although that’s very cool too! It’s something that we all like to do, and it’s a lot more effective when you do it with your friends.

Party like a rock star

The absolute coolest way to train both your body and your voice without going to a gym or taking voice lessons is going out to party. We all like to go out and have a good time with our friends, and places like concerts, bars, pubs, and clubs provide excellent opportunities to purposely train both your body and your voice. Why have I chosen this activity as the coolest way to train? Consider that when you go to a concert or club, you’re most likely dancing at some point in the night.

Dancing is one of the best cardio workouts you can do. Think about how many dance-based workouts are on the market, with Zumba still being the world’s most popular workout. Be it choreographed dance routines or simply freaking out on the dance floor, dancing burns a ton of calories, gets your heart rate up and releases those endorphins – the hormones that make you happy and help you deal with pain.

A concert: a great place to train your voice

Of course, you don’t necessarily have to go to a club to dance. Going to a concert is probably an even better place to let loose. It’s in this situation that your voice comes into play. Picture it: you’re standing in the audience with your friends at a concert by your favorite artist. The artist is putting on a great show. You’re cheering, singing, and talking to your friends tell them how awesome you think the concert is. At some point, the artist on stage tells the crowd to sing along with him or her. You sing along at the top of your lungs. It’s at this exact moment that you can work on your vocal skills.

Singing and dancing at a concert, bar or club allows you to train not only your body – remember, dancing is an awesome cardio workout – but also allows you to specifically train your projection technique by practicing breath support, sound color, and how to distribute your physical energy between your voice and the rest of your body. when you combine both of these things, you have a pretty great real full-body workout, and you didn’t have to change into your workout clothes, you didn’t have to drive to the gym or to your vocal coach, and you had some fun with your crew.

Let loose = sing better

So there you have it, the coolest way to train your voice and your body. The next time you go out with your friends, try to implement some of these techniques I’ve laid out in this article. If there are some other awesome places that you’ve practiced that I haven’t mentioned yet, make sure to let me know about them in the comments below.
